I've been doodling in Photoshop again.  It's a Boy-Is-It-Ever-Monday warm-up sketch before tackling my workload.

I'll most likely make a few more passes at this at a later date. But for now, here's the original ruff drawing.

Let me start by saying that I've been having a helluvva past couple of months with brutal animation deadlines, and work pressure out the waazzoo.. Artistically, I'm so completely burned out that I was starting to think I COULDN'T draw anything for myself even though I really wanted to, but didn't have the drive, nor the energy.

I was browsing the recent entries for the folks I'm watching, when I came across a recent post by Babyfox on deviantArt.. I really thought it was a cute design.. I really wanted to draw this.. So I did..

A few more sketches pulled from my bulging sketchbook.. Bloated like a sea corpse, it is.. *ahem*.. -- I've always been a big fan of the Ratchet & Clank games back on the Playstation 2, and here's some evidence of that. Technicly these two shouldn't work together because character-wise they both play the straight man, but for the purposes of the game they seem to work fine.

Fun sketches for a fun game. I'd like to start doing a few more of these game character sketches.. Maybe when I find a bit more time in my work schedule.

Now I'm off to get more of my animation quota done.

Sketch Dump - Cat BARFS!

Here's a pile of sketches collected from my desk and whilst on coffee breaks with a co-worker -- The theme of which started out as cats, then quickly devolved into cats barfing because it was funny, and something that totally grossed us both out as cat owners.

Doodles are 2B pencil, colerase pencil, and ballpoint pen.

Yes.. You see there an actual Pokemon gag. I know next to nothing about Pokemon except the really weird and creepy breeding rituals. O_o

All are either ballpoint pen, or 2B/HB pencil..

More Crayon Doodlin'

I'm actually amazed that I got this drawing made at all, considering how many times said 3-year-old took the crayon away from me. I had to crop this scan tight to stave-off the intruding pre-schooler. (He insisted that I was drawing it wrong, and "I show you how") -- I'm told in broken sentences that I don't know how to draw bunny rabbits, and when he scribbles on the page I was drawing on that he's made it a robot out of it.

This is what I get up to when trying to entertain a grumpy 3-year-old. It comes complete with the hamburger greese finger print on mouse's neck.
The 3-year-old in question completely ignored me while I drew this for him, in favour of a Spongebob episode he's seen 300 times already. *sigh*

I got this scene done in record time so I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I got this done in 8 hours FLAT. How many maniacal laughs do you get to animate in your career? Heheh.. (This would actually be number 2 for me)

Another small chunk of animation that I did for this series. This one was particularly fun to animate. I enjoyed animating the timing of Scardey noticing the tv camera at the beginning. ^_^

This one started out life as another sketch jam with Demonysh, but I've givven it a lot of Photoshoppin to bring it all together. It's got some fun characters..

Originally ruff drawn on paper, but final cleanup lines, colour, shading and composition in Photoshop CS 4 using a Wacom Intuos 4. Background is 3 different clay tiles I have sitting around and arranged on my scanner to fake a layout.

Here's another one of my latest scenes from the "Scardey Squirrel" series. Animating in ToonBoom really makes doing things like animated staggers really easy to do. Which is good considering staggers are kinda tricky to do in traditional animation.

Had another sketch jam with Demonysh today, and this is the result of it. Well.. The original pencil drawing was done at that time, but since then I've taken it home and layed on some Photoshop luvvin'.. This one was uber fun to do aswel.. Canada toque FTW!!!

Drawn in 2B pencil, then coloured in Photoshop CS4. Yes I wrote "coloured", cuz that's how us Canadians spell it. ^_~

I was running late with my deadline, but I managed to crank this one out in under 8 hours. This is a really fun series to animate on.
